Drunk Arizona trucker shoots at boss after confrontation about bad driving
When it comes to semi-trucks, safety matters. Being a bad driver puts everyone else on the road at risk. But one trucker took things personally after being reprimanded for poor driving habits and poor personal hygiene. He got drunk and tried to shoot his boss.
Drunk Arizona trucker attacks boss over bad driving
34-year-old Zane Hammond used to be a truck driver for United Freight Services in Phoenix, Arizona. He snapped under the pressure after his boss reprimanded him for bad driving and poor personal hygiene AGAIN.
According to CDL Life, Hammond got upset and quit the job multiple times. Then he went home, got drunk, and grabbed his rifle. Then he returned to the semi-truck company.
He entered his boss’s office and opened fire. Hammond shot at the man multiple times as he flipped a desk and used it as cover. Next, Hammond turned the gun on the Vice President, who was also in the office.
But the VP was greatly underestimated. He tackled Hammond, disarmed him, and held him in a chokehold until the Phoenix Police arrived.
Hammond pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted murder. He faces 29 years in prison, when all he had to do was improve his performance.
He may have believed he was being treated poorly by the company. However, documents show he was reprimanded multiple times for his poor driving habits and personal hygiene before quitting.
Being a trucker is incredibly stressful, and management can pile on to a bad day. But if Hammond went home and slept on it, he may have gotten his job back. There’s no way to enjoy the freedom of the open road from prison.
