Truck Plows Into Navajo Nation Christmas Parade, Killing 3-Year-Old
A devastating tragedy rocked the Navajo Nation the this holiday season. A truck drove through a crowd waiting for a Christmas parade on Dec. 22. A 3-year-old boy named Karson died from his injuries. The vehicle struck three others, including a pregnant woman.
What we know about the crash
The Navajo Nation spans parts of Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah. The crash occurred on the Arizona side of the reservation in Kayenta Township. It happened on Navajo Route 591 near the Kayenta Rodeo Grounds.
Kayenta Township said, “The Navajo Nation Police Department is currently investigating the incident.” Police are investigating the driver for a possible DUI. Authorities have not released the driver’s name.
The town added, “Our primary concern is the well-being of those affected. We ask that you keep them and their families in your thoughts and prayers.”

Karson’s family described him as “a joyful, loving 3-year-old who brought light to everyone around him.” They said his mother, her fiancé, and his grandfather were also injured. The family has set up a GoFundMe to help with medical and funeral expenses.
