Truck driver pulls accidental PIT maneuver, helps police end chase
A truck driver may spend tens of thousands of hours on the road over the course of their career. In all that time, they’re going to see some wild things. So when Marc of Merdzic Transportation Service out of Jacksonville Florida took to TikTok to tell his craziest story, you know it’s going to be good.
He set the scene, a highway in Missouri. “I’m on the far right-hand lane, picking up speed, I’m going about 50 miles per hour. I think the speed limit right there is like 55.
Then the truck driver’s long-haul went sideways. “And out of nowhere, this sedan came on the left side of my truck, and she just smacked me to the left side of my truck.”
The sedan didn’t turn headlong into the truck. It is as if it tried to turn in front of the truck and its rear fender clipped the front of the big rig. The result is that the car spun out. “She got in front, and like, I’m pushing, I’m like slamming on the brakes, trying to like not flip it and roll her over.”
Marc was able to slow down enough, and even steer both his truck and the car he was pushing into the breakdown lane. As he watched, a woman jumped out of the driver’s side door of the sedan. “She start running around in circles.”
The truck driver had accidentally saved the day
The driver had a good reason to panic. “The next thing I know, I seen like 10 cop cars right behind her, and they all come in front of me.” While the driver was “running around in circles, trying to run away from the cops” her passenger had other ideas.
“It’s like 20 cops out here. So another dude just sitting in the car with his hands up like, bro, I ain’t gonna do nothing.” Wise idea.
Later, the police thanked the truck driver for his help. “One of the cops was like, ‘bro, that was a good pit maneuver.'”
Marc insisted his offensive driving maneuver hadn’t been intentional. “I’m like, ‘I ain’t do nothing. I ain’t even see y’all coming.'” It turns out the fleeing suspect had PIT maneuvered herself.
The police explained to Marc why the woman was driving so erratically, “We just hit her with spikes.” You can see Marc tell the story himself in the video below:
