I have personally felt the dread, shame, and anger that comes with having your car towed. But that doesn’t mean you can threaten the tow truck driver or cause chaos. One Alabama man tried driving his truck away as it was being towed, causing damage.

Alabama man drives truck away while being towed

A truck owner returned to where he parked to discover that it was being towed in downtown Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred by Rock N Roll Sushi on Richard Arrington Boulevard.

Other drivers and pedestrians on the sidewalk were in shock as the owner of the Ford F-150 jumped in his truck as the tow truck driver tried to pull into traffic

He put the keys in the ignition and floored it, spinning the wheels in protest. The tire didn’t have a lot of traction as the back end was lifted in the air. At this point, the truck was still connected to the tow truck

But with a loud pop and as equipment fell off the tow truck, the F-150 was able to get free. Something fell off the Ford truck as well. Then he took off and remains at large. According to CBS 42, Alabama police officers don’t have any leads.

Private tow truck companies are now law enforcement officers and don’t have any authority to stop drivers from speeding away. However, the Ford driver could be on the hook for damaging the tow truck.

If they have the man’s license plate and information, they could send him a bill. But it’s unclear why his truck was being towed and how much damage he caused.
