Failed Texas traffic stop ends with heavy-duty truck smashing into home
Shout out to the family that was minding its own business when a truck suddenly hit their home. Their night was ruined by no fault of their own as a driver of a heavy-duty truck refused to pull over for a traffic stop in Texas.
Heavy-duty truck hits home in Texas
Police officers were on a routine patrol in Laredo, Texas, when they spotted a heavy-duty truck violating traffic laws. As a result, they initiated a traffic stop.
However, instead of pulling over, the driver of the Ford F-250 tried to make a run for it. Flashing blue lights tend to make people nervous, but initiating a police chase usually makes things much worse.
Members of the Laredo Police Department (LPD) followed the truck for a short distance. It wasn’t long before the driver lost control of the F-250, blew through a chain link fence.
The truck finally came to a stop once it hit the side of a home located in the 400 block of E. San Pedro Street. But according to KGNS, the suspect, identified as 19-year-old Luis Carlos Medina, wasn’t ready to give up.
He took off on foot until police officers were able to detain him. He was charged with evading arrest with a motor vehicle, evading arrest, duty on striking a structure, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and reckless driving.
Medina doesn’t even own the heavy-duty truck, which could weigh up to 7,500 lbs. It’s unclear how fast it was traveling when it hit the home, but it could have done serious damage. Luckily, no one was hurt.
