With the way Toyota Tacoma trucks are destroying American options, there should be a mercy rule or something. It’s not even the end of the year yet, but the Tacoma can’t be caught as American trucks get left in the dust.

The 2025 Toyota Tacoma outsells American trucks by an insane amount

The numbers are in, and the 2025 Toyota Tacoma is looking pretty set as the most popular truck. Rivals are counting on the fourth quarter and the last two months of the year to boost their sales. However, American trucks need a miracle to catch the Tacoma.

During the first three quarters of the year, the Tacoma sold 204,464 trucks. It has a 61.2% sales increase compared to the first three quarters of 2024.

Of course, it took a bit to ramp up production in the beginning of 2024 as the new generation launched. Also, the Tacoma sold 73,591 units in the third quarter of 2025.

Surprisingly, the Chevrolet Colorado is in second place. It sold 24,575 units in the third quarter of the year. Also, it has moved 77,390 trucks so far in 2025.

Then we have the Ford Ranger with 15,301 sales in the third quarter. It has moved about 48,278 trucks so far this year.

The Nissan Frontier isn’t American, but it’s still struggling behind the pack. It managed to sell 17,032 trucks in the third quarter and has moved 47,630 models thus far.

Next, we have the Jeep Gladiator with 13,113 sales during the third quarter. So far in 2025, it has sold 38,513 models.

According to Motor1, the GMC Canyon is in last place with 9,539 sales in the third quarter and only 27,878 sales so far this year.
