For the most part, three-row SUVs are experiencing significant levels of growth. The largest Toyota SUV seems to be an exception, though. As American models continue to fly off the lot, the Toyota Sequoia is being left behind.

American models outsell the largest Toyota SUV

The largest Toyota SUV is the Toyota Sequoia. It has a reputation for long-lasting reliability and an abundance of space for passengers and cargo. But this family hauler hasn’t been as popular as it used to be since the latest generation debuted in 2023.

According to GM Authority, the 2025 Sequoia sold 12,222 SUVs during the first and second quarters of the year. It sold 12,868 units during the same period in 2024 and is experiencing a -5.02% sales decrease.

Meanwhile, the Ford Expedition sold 44,789 models in the first two quarters of 2025 and 43,307 units during the same period in 2024. It has a 3.40% sales increase.

During the first and second quarters of 2025, the Chevrolet Suburban moved 29,937 models. It sold 21,463 during the first half of 2024, and has a 39,48% sales increase.

The three-row king is currently the Chevy Tahoe. It sold 60,095 SUVs during the first half of 2025 and 48,443 units during the first half of 2024 for a 24.05% sales increase.

Also, the Jeep Wagoneer is facing an extreme sales decline, but it still sold 13,616 models during the first half of the year, putting it ahead of the Sequoia. All other American rivals have doubled their sales or more.
