Texas police arrest over 90 people during truck show
The Lone Star Throwdown is one of the largest truck shows in America. It brings thousands of pickup enthusiasts to Conroe each year. It can get pretty wild, but this time, police officers were prepared.
Over 125 officers worked together each night during Operation Zero Traction to crack down on illegal driving while promoting public safety during the event.
A task force was created after things got out of hand in 2024. Dispatchers received over 30 calls for parking lot takeovers that involved over 100 trucks and over 200 people.
Conroe Police Chief Jon Buckholt shares that the task force’s success is due to preparation and collaboration among multiple law enforcement agencies.
According to the Houston Chronicle, he shares, “Our officers were highly visible, conducted hundreds of patrol checks, and together we delivered a safe event with zero vehicle thefts, burglaries, or parking lot takeovers in the city.”
Most arrests were related to narcotics, and there was a large portion of intoxicated drivers. However, no fatalities were reported.
Here are the reported arrests:
- Driving while intoxicated – 16
- Racing – 13
- Narcotics – 28
- Resisting arrest – 3
- Reckless driving – 15
- Weapons charges – 13
- Interfering with public duties – 3
- Aggravated assault on a public servant – 1
- Evading arrest in a motor vehicle – 2
The organizers of the show thank the task force and refer to the event’s growth as a dream. This wouldn’t be possible without law enforcement officers keeping people safe.
