Nothing says carefree motoring like cruising up to a Sonic, ordering from a “carhop” on roller skates, and eating in your car. But one Texas man turned a Sonic in Big Spring into a war zone. With a fire extinguisher. And now the jury isn’t happy.

According to authorities, Stephen Dior Taylor and another individual walked into the Gregg Street Sonic drive-in restaurant as employees were attempting to close up. They used a fire extinguisher to spray an employee in the face, then stole cash.

Well, don’t mess with Texas. Or with Texas’ Chili Cheese Coney and slushee. The 118th District Court empaneled a 12-member journey to hear the case against Taylor, including evidence from nine witnesses. The jury found Taylor guilty and returned a punishment verdict of 60 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. The prison had better double-check its fire extinguishers.
