Think you’re having a rough day? Police say two men were kidnapped and stuffed into a trunk in Nashville, Tennessee, after having a gun pulled on them in broad daylight.

The two men, ages 18 and 26, say they were held at gunpoint at a local Citgo gas station at about 4:45 one recent afternoon and forced into the trunk of a Ford Fusion. The motive was allegedly robbery.

The suspected 41-year-old kidnapper also allegedly fired multiple shots before being put into the vehicle’s trunk. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) reported that one bullet “struck/grazed [a] victim on the left leg near his ankle and continued down through the top and out the back of his tennis shoe.”

The alleged kidnapper neglected to take the victim’s phone

The victims survived the kidnapping by calling 911 for help from the trunk of the Fusion. WSMV News reported that a police spokesperson confirmed the incident did “not appear to be random.”

After police dispatch “pinged” the victim’s phone, officers located the vehicle and found the two men still in the trunk.

“[The suspect] drove around before stopping the car on Lischey Avenue, where he and a second unidentified gunman struck both victims with their pistols and took their personal belongings,” MNPD reported. ” Both suspects fled from responding officers who located the two men inside the trunk. Both victims positively identified [the suspect].”

MNPD Violent Crimes detectives later located the alleged kidnapper in a Publix grocery store parking lot. A search of his vehicle resulted in the discovery of a loaded revolver. The suspect was then taken into custody without incident. MNPD also reported they were able to obtain video of the alleged kidnapping.

The kidnapping suspect was charged with two counts of aggravated kidnapping, two counts of aggravated robbery, and being a felon in possession of a gun. He was jailed on a $202,500 bond.
