California police sergeant injured during a stolen Corvette crime spree
On January 17, police officers responded to reports of a red Chevrolet Corvette being stolen. But things quickly escalated from there. The car traveled to the Bay Area as the suspect carried out multiple robberies.
The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Mohamed Husien, has a type. He was involved in the armed carjacking of a green Corvette. Once a license plate reader spotted the car in San Jose, a police chase ensued.
According to Fox News, the chase ended when the vehicle became disabled. But the suspect exchanged gunfire with deputies and stole another vehicle at gunpoint. Then he fled back toward San Jose.
The second chase ended near Julian and Terrain streets as another gunfight began. Unfortunately, the suspect was killed, and the police sergeant was injured during the exchange. Over 30 shots were fired.
The sergeant was immediately taken to the hospital by emergency responders. Also, the community is showing support for him and his family to provide whatever they need.
San Jose Police Officers’ Association President shares, “The suspect had no regard for anyone’s life and endangered hundreds of innocent people during his multiple-county crime spree.”
The sergeant is in good spirits, and his first words after arriving at the hospital were, “Make sure someone takes care of my dogs.” This reflects his outstanding character and the risks officers take to protect the community.
