Stellantis revives SRT Division for Jeep, Dodge, and Ram
In a race to turn sales around, Stellantis has been revising a few of its decisions that could be viewed as mistakes. For example, the HEMI V8 engine is making a return, and Ram is rejoining NASCAR. Plus, the SRT Division is officially returning.
Stellantis revives SRT Division for Jeep, Dodge, Ram, and Chrysler
It’s time to take things to the next level, again! Stellantis officially announced that the SRT Division is being revived to unify high-performance engineering across Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram under a single, dedicated entity.
SRT stands for Street and Racing Technology. According to Stellantis, the reestablished SRT performance division will oversee Direction Connection and North American motorsports initiatives.
This includes participating in the NHRA and NASCAR. Ram has trucks ready to race, Dodge has beefy sports cars like the Charger, and Jeep has the Rubicon 392. But what does Chrysler have? Do we finally get the Pacifica Hellcat?
I’m assuming plenty of new options are on the way, but I hope a new Jeep Cherokee Trackhawk makes an appearance.
Stellantis shared that the best performance engineering talent from four American brands is being consolidated. The SRT Division will deliver vehicles that push the boundaries of power, aerodynamics, handling, and technology on the street and track.
It’s for enthusiasts to receive the power, precision, and passion they expect. This is crucial for reaching the brand’s full potential amid declining sales.
The SRT group started under Chrysler and went independent in 2011. Then it was discontinued in 2014, and went back to being a development team. But a few Challenger and Charger SRT models managed to survive.
