Don’t do the crime if your getaway vehicle isn’t prepared to flee. A man in Wyoming didn’t have much luck while trying to run from the police when a wheel from his Chevy Tahoe fell off. To make matters worse, he was connected to an attempted shooting.

The suspect tried to run from police until his Chevy Tahoe lost a wheel

Cheyenne police officers responded to reports of shots being fired around 9:55 PM at the 1600 block of West Jefferson Road.

The victim was sitting in his truck when multiple shots were fired in his direction by a man in a light-colored Chevrolet Tahoe. Police identified the man as 45-year-old Demetrius Coletti of Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Luckily, no one was hurt, but bullets did strike the victim’s truck. Officers spoke to several witnesses and worked to clear the area. A description of the shooter and his Tahoe circulated on the police radio.

According to Cowboys State Daily, a Laramie County Sheriff’s Deputy recognized the Tahoe at the intersection of College Drive and Walterscheid Boulevard.

He tried to conduct a traffic stop, but Coletti drove off at a high rate of speed. Officers began to chase him as he drove recklessly through traffic.

Coletti ran a red light and hit a car traveling through the intersection of West Lincolnway and Central Avenue. Then but kept on going. None of the victims in this car were injured. They refused medical care.

The accident must have caused severe damage to the Chevy Tahoe because once he got west of town his Tahoe lost a wheel.

Officers quickly detained Colettie and took him to the Laramie County Detention Center. He was charged on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, fleeing, and neglecting to stop after a crash.

An attempted first-degree murder is punishable by life in prison in Wyoming.
