As a trucker, you get to enjoy the freedom of the open road. The last place a semi-truck driver expected to end up is buried beneath rubble inside a house. But this was all too real for one driver who crashed into a home.

California semi-truck driver crashes into a home and gets trapped

A family in Victorville, California, was enjoying a peaceful evening at home until a semi-truck busted through the side of their home, causing the roof to collapse.

The crash occurred around 11:30 on Green Tree Boulevard, near Arrowhead Drive. Police officers, firefighters, and emergency crews immediately responded to the scene.

They arrived to find a 2019 Freightliner tractor-trailer buried under rubble. The driver was still trapped inside. He remained stuck in the wreckage for an hour before rescue crews could reach him.

The trucker, identified as Vincent Lynn, was pulled from debris and airlifted to a regional trauma center to receive treatment for serious injuries. No one in the family home was injured.

According to VVNG, Lynn was driving north on Arrowhead Drive when he lost control of his rig. He struck a traffic control device before slamming through the rear of the home. The Major Accident Investigation Team from the Victorville Police Station is continuing to investigate.

If you have any information about the crash or witnessed the event, please contact Deputy J. Tamasello or Deputy R. Anselm at the Victorville Police Station at (760) 241-2911.

It’s unclear how fast the semi-truck was traveling. But the average big rig weighs 30,000 lbs without cargo and about 80,000 lbs with a loaded trailer. It could have brought the entire house down.
