A man just revealed a hidden discount code that can be redeemed with every RockAuto purchase “99%” of the time.

In the viral clip, Dom (@domsdadadvice) shares how to claim this discount by googling a certain phrase and never having to pay full price on car parts again. 

His TikTok went viral and has generated more than 34,400 views as of this writing.

“Most people don’t know this but RockAuto has a standing 5% discount if you know where to look,” Dom begins. 

This discount isn’t going to be advertised anywhere on the website and won’t be a promo name either. The code will be a numerical value that is found within your account activity with a RockAuto account. 

All you need is a RockAuto account, which is free to create, and then head to account activity page. Here, on the top of the account activity page will display a “discounts available” section with the 5% discount code. This code will have multiple numerical values.

Once you copy the code, the code will be pasted into the bottom of the checkout page in the “how did you hear about us?” box. Once the code is pasted and entered, the 5% discount will be applied to the order.

“In most cases, on most orders it’s enough to cover the shipping cost. It’s kinda like getting free shipping,” Dom shares. 

Dom told MotorBiscuit, “I’m actually not sure how I discovered it. I think it was back in like 2017 I got an email after placing a couple of orders for my rental business. Then I googled how to claim it and a bunch of sites came up with the codes.”

What Is The Phase To Google To Redeem The 5% Off Discount On RockAuto?

Now if you don’t want to make a RockAuto account, there is still a way to redeem the 5% discount code. 

By googling, “RockAuto 5% discount code” you can gain access to the code without a RockAuto account. 

Here several websites will populate including Reddit, RetailMeNot, and Facebook groups sharing the discount codes. 

“All kinds of sites have them. Just copy and paste them in and 99% of the time, they are active. There’s a great way to save money on car parts,” Dom shares. 

One RockAuto customer commented and confirmed the google codes will work.

“I usually get mine in an email, but if I don’t have one just googling a coupon code works as well,” one commenter added.

5% RockAuto Discount Can Go A Long Way

5% may seem insignificant, but any discount should be taken if available. 

One TikTok commenter would’ve loved to know about this discount before their recent purchase. 

“This would’ve been great to know 6 months ago before I spent like $1k in parts for my old truck,” the commenter shared.

In this case, the RockAuto customer could’ve saved $50 on his $1,000 order.   

Other viewers chimed in and how they just placed a RockAuto order and would’ve loved to know about this earlier. 

“I spend SOO much money on Rockauto. This is helpful. Thank you,” one said.. 

“I spent $260 on Rockauto YESTERDAY!” another shared. 

“Wow could have had this video like 3 days ago,” a third commented. 

Do Car Parts Ever Go On Sale?

Typically, seeing a 5% discount code doesn’t generate that much excitement with shopping. 

Considering that many retailers operate with a high-low pricing promotion strategy, consumers are used to seeing discounts of 20% or more regularly. This strategy entails consumers to spend more money by offering discounts. Retailers like Macy’s and Kohl’s are notable examples of this strategy.

With car retailers, most of the sales will happen seasonally during the holiday time. This includes Black Friday and Cyber Monday as practically all businesses will offer some sort of promotion here.

Although, you won’t always have to wait for the holidays to potentially save a few bucks. Timing purchases with new aftermarket car parts releases can be done. When the new part is released, the retailer will most likely discount the older part to clear up space for the new inventory coming in. 

According to MarktPilot, most of the automotive industry operates on a penetration parts pricing model. Instead of offering frequent discounts, the retailer set a low compelling price upfront. The desire is this lower upfront price point will draw customers to their store over competitors. 

So it’ll be rare to see a car retailer running a 40% store coupon. This is why the 5% off the entire order with RockAuto is compelling for customers when making larger purchases.
