Rideshare driver accidentally catches cheater
There’s no good way to discover your partner is cheating on you. But the worst way to find out might just be from your Uber driver. A Redditor recently asked the forum for Lyft drivers about their strangest experiences and one ride share driver came through with a one-in-a-million misfortune.
Here’s the original question: “I’ve been driving for uber for about a year and then switched to Lyft and been driving for Lyft about 2 years. I’ve had literally all the crazy stories but I’m curious on what’s YOUR wildest story being a driver for Lyft.”
Bizarre responses ranged from unknowingly being an accessory to a drive-by shooting to dropping a famous musician off at their own concert to the classic drunk passenger falling asleep so soundly they had to call the police to have them removed. But one user took the cake.
This particular driver said he was working a regular shift on a weekend afternoon when he got a ride request from a residential neighborhood. He described the house as “kind of isolated at the end of a street.” When he got near he found his passenger waiting around the side of the house. And that’s not all. The man was staring right past the driver’s car. It “looked like he was looking for someone driving down the road when getting in the car.”
The ride share driver sized up the passenger. He described him as a “young, buff looking dude.” Must just be into fitness. The rest of the trip went without incident, the driver dropped off his passenger, and then he went about his day.

An hour later, he got another seemingly unrelated request. The pickup pin was in front of a movie theater. When the driver arrived he found his passengers were an older man and his son. During the drive, he asked them about their day and got the full rundown. “They watched a movie and played some games, and decided to stop at the store on the way home.”
The driver wasn’t sure it was worth his time to wait around at the store. But the passenger promised to finish his shopping in five minutes. True to his word, he was back to the car in four minutes and a few seconds. He even tipped the driver $5 for sticking around. Sounds like an all-around nice guy.
Once on the road again, the dad checked his phone. Apparently he’d been waiting on a response from his wife and only just then heard from her because he told his son, “mom must have taken a really long nap.”
At that moment, the Lyft driver rounded the corner and caught site of the drop-off location. He realized it was the same house from his earlier ride. Without thinking things through he blurted out, “Oh, I just picked up a guy from here and took him home.”
The driver honestly expected to hear he’d met the dad’s brother or an older son or something. Instead, the passenger just stared at the driver. He said, “No, only my wife is home.” Then the truth clicked into shape in his head and he shouted, “SON OF A B—-“
Before the driver could stop the man, he bolted out of the car and sprinted to the house. The Lyft driver never did figure out what happened to the couple. But he concluded, “I suspect that his is having two Christmases this year…”
Commenters had a field day with the incident. One other driver even realized he had the perfect way to get back at rude passengers by telling them, “Oh I just picked up some guy from this address like an hour ago!” as he dropped them off.
