The 2026 Mazda CX-5 Hybrid is almost here
Did you know that the Mazda CX-5 hasn’t been redesigned since 2017? It got a few facelifts and some tech upgrades over the years, but it’s still a bit ancient. But it’s the brand’s best-selling SUV, so it wasn’t in a rush to update its winning formula.
However, the 2026 CX-5 Hybrid is right around the corner with a host of significant changes, such as a brand-new style, inside and out. Based on rumors and teaser images, it could debut on July 10.
It could mimic the style of the CX-50 and 90 with squared-off edges and a larger grille. But it will also be sharp and clean. Plastic cladding over the wheel arches provides a hint of rugged upgrades. Plus, the rear has exposed tailpipes to get your motor running.
The interior is rumored to be spacious and uncluttered. I’m assuming the digital gauge cluster, head-up display, and infotainment screen will be enhanced. However, will it gain a touchscreen?
According to Car Scoops, it’s expected to launch exclusively with a new hybrid engine. The self-charging hybrid powertrain was developed in-house. A new SkyActive-Z gas engine is rumored to join the lineup in 2027.
Both engines will offer increased fuel efficiency and stronger performance to fight rivals like the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV-4. Both SUVs already offer hybrid variants.
