Jeep Grand Cherokee head restraint recall
Stellantis officially issues a recall for over 121,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L models. Models at risk were released during 2023 and 2024.
The second-row head restraints might not lock in the upright position. As a result, the head restraint could increase the risk of injuries during certain types of crashes.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Stellantis discovered that the problem stems from a manufacturing defect.
The head restraints contain an internal locking mechanism with an interference that blocks the restraints from locking in place. Stellantis only used this faulty part for a few months.
Stellantis will begin notifying owners at risk via mail by September 5. The NHTSA number for this recall is 23V472000, and the Stellantis number is 20C. For more information, you can contact Stellantis customer service at 1-800-853-1403.
If your Jeep Grand Cherokee is included under this recall, visit a local dealership for service. Technicians will inspect and replace the second row seat head restraints for free. You may be eligible for reimbursement if you already paid to have this problem repaired.
If you don’t want to wait for snail mail, then enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) with the NHSTA recall search tool.
Out of 121,398 SUVs, only 1% of them are expected to be equipped with the faulty head restraints.
