Ram 1500 RHO trucks struggle to pass 98 mph
If you have the need for truck speed, watch out for the Ram 1500 RHO. It’s supposed to replace the Ram TRX, but that’smaking a return. Now, some models can’t go over 98 mph, making them much slower than advertised.
Some Ram 1500 RHO trucks won’t go over 98 mph
Stellantis might have some explaining to do because Ram 1500 RHO truck owners are upset. Documents claim that it can go up to 118 mph. However, some models are failing to go over 98 mph.
That makes it 20 mph slower than it’s supposed to be. But Stellantis did figure out what the problem was. Some North American RHO trucks got mixed up with trucks meant for European markets.
As a result, they received engine software that limits the top speed to 98 mph to comply with regulatory requirements in a few international markets. But the American trucks are intended to be used as high-performance sport trucks.
According to Pickup Truck Talk, Stellantis will provide a rapid service update (RSU). It will recalibrate the engine software in affected trucks. Technicians will travel to the owners to perform the update.
Plus, there is a cherry on top. Stellantis offers a complimentary oil change at participating dealerships.
As speed is restored to Ram trucks, Stellantis reminds drivers to obey posted speed limits and to drive responsibly.
The Ram RHO has the high-output Hurricane inline-six engine with 540 hp and 521 lb-ft of torque. It can reach 0 to 60 mph in about 4.6 seconds.
With the Ram 1500 TRX, you get a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine with 702 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. It can reach 60 mph in about 4.5 seconds.
