Ram 1500 engine fire lawsuit results in $3,575 payments

The gavel has officially slammed to indicate a final decision. Stellantis settles a lawsuit related to engine fires. Those who bought or leased Ram trucks could qualify for a cash payment of up to $3,575.

Stellantis agrees to a settlement related to Ram 1500 EcoDiesel trucks that were allegedly equipped with defective exhaust recirculation coolers that may cause engine fires. However, the automaker refuses to admit to any wrongdoing and wasn’t found liable despite agreeing to pay up.

You may qualify if you purchased or leased a model year 2014-2019 EcoDiesel trucks that was built between June 12, 2013, and October 2023, 2019. You have until May 16, 2026, to submit your claim here

Class members (owners or leasees) who experienced an engine fire in their truck due to a failed EGR cooler may receive $3,000. Rental car reimbursement is capped at $500 per truck, and coolant reimbursements are capped at $75.

But you need documents to provide proof of the fire and that it was caused by the EGR cooler. You can also submit proof of payment for a warranty extension.

The defective Exhaust Gas Recirculation coolers are allegedly susceptible to thermal fatigue. This may cause them to crack and allow coolant to leak, which may cause combustion within the intake manifold, resulting in fire.
