Los Angeles police tackle truck thief after dangerous chase

Multiple police officers spent hours trying to apprehend a suspect in a stolen truck around the Westside of Los Angeles. They spotted a truck that was reported stolen, and a high-speed chase ensued.

According to ABC 7, the police chase occurred in multiple neighborhoods, including Santa Monica, Pico-Robertson, and Sunset Park. The suspect also spent time on surface streets and the 10 Freeway.

The driver of the GMC Sierra 1500 was seemingly able to outsmart the police officers. They attempted to stop him with a few different PIT maneuvers. However, the suspect got around them with evasive maneuvers.

He hit two spike strips in the road that were placed by authorities, but kept going. Around 11:45 AM, he stopped the stolen truck in the middle of the street.

Officers exited their squad cars and approached the vehicle with guns drawn. Then the suspect sped off, leading a second chase. The driver could be seen casually taunting police from behind the steering wheel.

About 20 minutes later, he exited the truck in Venice. He approached the officers, then turned around and jumped back in the vehicle. Then he got out again and was immediately tackled by multiple officers.

It’s unclear where the truck was stolen. But the driver certainly frustrated multiple police officers with his wild antics.
