Los Angeles police SUV loses control during chase and hits building
It might be time to stop giving police officers the benefit of the doubt when it comes to being good drivers. Sure, they do receive training and take driving courses. But more examples of officers losing control of their squad cars every day. A police SUV just landed in a building!
Los Angeles police SUV smashes through restaurant
Things escalated pretty quickly around 7:15 AM as Los Angeles police officers raced after two burglary suspects in a grey Lexus. The chase began in the area around Slauson and Santa Fe Avenues.
One officer hit a car with their police SUV during the pursuit. However, they didn’t give up and doubled down. They continued to chase the Lexus vehicle until they crashed into a restaurant.
Suddenly, there was a large boom followed by the thunder of shattering glass as the Ford Explorer sailed through the front of Bobo’s Hamburgers in South Gate.
The average Explorer weighs between 4,345 to 4,700 lbs. I’m willing to bet that police interceptors tip the scales a bit more due to extra equipment.
According to NBC Los Angeles, the officers managed to apprehend a woman. She was taken into custody on suspicion of grand theft auto.
Officer Charles Miller of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Division shared that it’s unclear how the arrest was made or how the suspect was found. There was a lot happening at the time.
Also, officers didn’t release a description of the second suspect. There’s probably an ongoing investigation into the matter and interesting camera footage to review.
Luckily, no one was injured. But the owner of the restaurant is left to deal with the headache of an SUV destroying his dining area.
