Residents across Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina have been targets for their dump trucks. A Florida man has been accused of stealing $1.2 million worth of the heavy-duty trucks. This left families and businesses with financial stress. 

Florida man steals $1.8 million with of dump trucks 

Some families and small businesses rely on their dump trucks for their livelihoods. So if someone steals their rig, they’re left with debt and financial struggles. 

40-year-old Olansy Marrero, of Duval County, Florida, allegedly stole $1.8 million worth of rigs. Police claim that he stole at least eight trucks from South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. 

Investigating officers found a stolen dump truck at a business located in the 4700 block of Hulbert Avenue. This is wherethey found Marrero altering the truck’s Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

According to Fox 13 News, police officers obtained search warrants for the property and two other locations related to the business. They found eight trucks stolen between 20023 and 2025. 

The trucks were property of others who utilize the company’s services to park on the property. Also, to have routine maintenance performed. 

Marrero was charged with three counts of grand theft of $100k or more, criminal mischief of $1,000 or more, possession of a VIN plate, possession of a motor vehicle with a VIN plate, sale or possession of a vehicle with an altered number, tampering with physical evidence, operating a chop shop, and introduction of contraband into a detention facility. 

These thefts impacted families, employees, and delayed contraction projects. Businesses couldn’t make money with their dump trucks.
