California police search for arsonist linked to 24 car fires so far
The San Jose fire department and local police officers are in need of answers. Someone in California is committed to causing chaos by committing arson. About 24 cars were set ablaze between December 18 and January 27.
Plus, 11 vehicles were set on fire overnight on Tuesday. The arsonist targets vehicles in five different locations after midnight. Six were in the driveway of Adam’s Test Only and Willow Glen Auto Electric.
Firefighters respond as quickly as they can as people wake up to bright flames and loud bangs at auto repair shops. According to ABC 7 News, surveillance cameras caught a man getting off a bike and approaching the vehicles to ignite them with a torch.
Then the masked suspect is quickly spotted riding away from the scene. Jaun Murrieta, the owner of a repair shop, shares, “We’re thinking about how many more of these fires are going around.”
Earlier incidents also captured a man wearing a mask approaching the scene on a bike. The San Jose Police are assisting with the fire department’s arson unit to find answers. It’s unclear if the incidents are all connected. So far, they have one person of interest.
Murrieta plans to release the full video after he has his insurance problems cleared up. Officials urge anyone with related information to contact the fire department.
