Detroit police find kidnapped man in burning SUV
Nila Robinson of Detroit, Michigan, woke up around 6 a.m. to a chaotic scene, as neighborhood dogs wouldn’t stop barking, and sirens blared. Suddenly flashing lights from fire trucks and police cars flickered in her windows.
Emergency crews were responding to reports of a burning SUV in the 18400 block of Mt.Elliot at Stockton. As they arrived, witnesses shared that there was a man hogtied in the back of the flaming GMC Yukon.
A neighbor was able to pull him out before it was too late. According to Fox 2 Detroit, investigators learned that the man was beaten and taken from Southwest Detroit.
Then he was taken from his home to the city’s east side and left for dead as someone set the vehicle on fire.
The severity of the victim’s injuries is unclear, but he is in stable condition. However, luckily, no one else was hurt. But Detroit police officers are still investigating the incident.
They have been unable to determine what led to the kidnapping. The man’s wife was found inside his home, tied up as well. She wasn’t injured, though. Additionally, the quiet neighborhood where the SUV was abandoned appears to have been randomly chosen.
