As spooky season gears up, Indiana police officers have already experienced their fair share of horror. I do have to provide a content warning, as this tale involves murder. It all started with reports of a suspicious SUV being spotted in a cemetery.

Indiana police find husband beside dead wife in SUV

A witness called 911 to report spotting a suspicious SUV in the Forrestville Cemetery in Elmwood, north of Indianapolis.

The person approached the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee in the dark and knocked on the window. But a man and woman were unresponsive inside.

Police officers arrived to investigate and discovered a grim scene. 47-year-old Michela Hinson slumped over in the driver’s seat. According to People, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Initially, 49-year-old Jeremy Hinson was unresponsive in the passenger’s seat, covered in blood. As officers knocked on the windows, he unlocked the Jeep SUV and exited the vehicle.

He had a gun in a holster and was quickly taken to the hospital due to a potential overdose.  Upon further investigation, detectives found bullet casings in the Jeep. Plus, Jeremy’s wife had been shot seven times in the chest and abdomen at close range.

Investigators got a warrant to search the Hinson home. They found a gun box with a serial that matched the pistol he had in the Grand Cherokee. Then, a family member later recorded him confessing to the murder.

As a result, justice is being served. Hinson was sentenced to 55 years in prison for murder and 20 years for a felony. That’s 75 years to sit behind bars.
