Police cruiser flips on top of doggie daycare during mysterious, multi-state chase
A police cruiser flipped off the road in Pennsylvania, flying by an elementary school and landing on its roof on top of a doggie daycare.
This story begins when car sped past a police officer in Middletown Village, Ohio around 9 PM on a Sunday. The officer flipped on his lights, signaling the car to stop. But the speeder just pointed his nose at the state line and hit the gas.
The police officer chose to take off after the unsafe driver. The two of them hit speeds well over 100 mph. Soon, they’d crossed out of Ohio and into Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. Early reports say the officer had no backup because he was out of radio range and had been unable to alert his department about the chase.
The speeder and police officer were likely racing along State Route 317 when it took a nearly 90-degree angle, becoming Mohawk School Road. The speeding driver was able to navigate the five-way intersection, but the pursuing police officer was not, and in the crash he rolled over onto the doggie daycare across the intersection. None of the animals boarded in the doggie daycare were hurt in the collision.

The mysterious speeding driver escaped and authorities are still searching for them.
Meanwhile, the police officer sustained injuries including a suspected back injury. He was immediately helicoptered to Youngstown hospital. Luckily, he is only being treated for broken ribs.
Middletown Police Chief Anthony Protopapa says the officer is likely to recover. He admitted the pursuing officer is a rookie who’s been with his force less than a year, but hasn’t yet revealed his identity.
