Arkansas police find $28 million worth of meth in a lime truck
The Arkansas State Police say that they discovered $28 million worth of methamphetamine hidden in a semi-truck. It seemed like the truck was simply carrying a shipment of limes, but really, it was carrying 620 pounds of illegal drugs.
According to 4029 TV, the 8th South Drug Task Force of Little Rock receives tips about meth being trafficked through Texarkana. Then they spotted a suspected vehicle at a weigh station near Hope.
Upon searching the truck’s trailer, they found bags of meth in boxes, sitting under 10 tons of limes. Two people have been arrested so far. Their names have not been released, and they face charges of trafficking. There is an ongoing investigation
Police officers share that this could be in connection to a much larger drug ring. As the case continues forward, additional information might be released.
Law enforcement officials credit the successful seizure to strong cooperation between local, state, and federal agencies working together to keep harmful drugs out of local communities. The FBI, DEA, and DPS were of valuable assistance in the operation.
It’s unclear where the shipment of limes was heading. Limes grow in Texas, but the truckers involved may have crossed the Mexican border. This operation has been part of an ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking in Arkansas.
