California police find 2 bodies in a truck up in the Santa Cruz Mountains

Police officers and detectives in California are working to figure out why two bodies were found in a pickup truck, abandoned in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

The truck was discovered along Highway 35 and Skyline Boulevard about three miles south of Castle Rock State Park. The bodies were in the back of a large Ford Heavy-Duty truck.

California Highway Patrol shared that this is an active and ongoing investigation. Two deceased individuals were located in the vehicle, but their deaths were not witnessed. They are coded as suspicious until a coroner can confirm the cause and manner of death.

According to NBC Bay Area, if the autopsy report indicates foul play then they’ll follow up on a few investigative leads. But it’s currently a mystery. The truck was in an area with very few residents and no visible surveillance cameras.

A tow truck was escorted by the police to haul the truck away. Castle Rock is a popular area among hikers, though. Some people were shocked by the grim discovery because of how popular the park is.

Unfortunately, questions will remain unanswered until the coroner is able to provide some clues. Investigators aren’t even sure about the identities of the deceased yet. Stay tuned for updates.
