You never really know what drivers have in the back of a semi-truck. It could be a load of fruit or electronics. But every so often, people are hauling contraband. Ohio police officers were shocked upon discovering $1.8 million worth of cocaine in a trailer.

Semi-truck driver busted with $1.8 million worth of cocaine.

Police officers responded to reports of a semi-truck that was acting suspicious while heading northbound on I-75 in Frenchtown Township, Ohio.

It was strange because the trucker decided to bypass the weigh station when he was supposed to stop for the scales.

This could mean that he knew his load was overweight, or he was up to no good. Driving with an overweight load could significantly damage roads.

According to WHMI, police officers initiated a traffic stop. The tractor-trailer pulled over, and the driver was identified as a 26-year-old from Ontario, Canada.

He explained that he had a load from Ohio to Canada, then officers asked to search the trailer. Upon gaining consent, they discovered 70 vacuum-sealed packages in cardboard boxes, hidden in the trailer storage compartment.

Random packages tested positive for cocaine. Despite claiming not to know what was in the packages, the trucker was arrested. He was charged with intent to deliver cocaine, over 1,000 grams.

The amount of cocaine they found is worth $1,820,000! This is based on the street value of a kilo, ranging between $13,000 and $26,000.
