Massachusetts plow truck driver nearly impaled by falling branch
The driver of a plow truck in Kingston, Massachusetts, is lucky to still have all of his body parts intact. He could have easily lost a leg or a twig and berries while clearing snow during a historic blizzard.
A massive tree branch came crashing down, piercing through his windshield. It landed between his legs and came dangerously close to causing severe injuries. The Kingston Police Department shares that it was six inches in diameter and several feet long.
The driver was actually trapped by the branch, which had become wedged under the steering wheel. As a result, Kingston Fire and Emergency Management crews responded to assist with the rescue.
According to CBS News, firefighters used this as a warning to beg drivers to stay off the road. They shared that even those who are trying to keep the roads clear and safe are having difficulties. Luckily, the plow operator wasn’t injured.
Police officers note that roads are being plowed, but immediately become messy as snow covers them. Plus, high winds are blowing branches and power lines into the roads.
The Kingston Police Department shares, “There is no sugar-coating this. It’s bad out here. The worst in years, and it’s not over yet.”
Emergency crews and plow truck drivers might be taking more risks than expected. However, the threat of sudden castration probably isn’t on anyone’s bingo card.
