Lucky penny stops bullet from striking SUV driver on Mississippi highway
It doesn’t matter if you believe in magic pennies. One man is lucky to be alive after a penny stopped a bullet from hitting him inside his SUV during a road rage incident on a Mississippi highway. The aggressor actually fired seven shots.
Lucky penny in SUV saves life in Mississippi
Jason Walker, from Clinton, Mississippi, is lucky to be alive after being shot at on Interstate 220 at Highway 80 in Jackson. The man was on his way to serve at Truitt Baptist Church on Old Brand Road in Pearl.
As he was driving, another man pulled up beside him in an aggressive manner. The suspect circled his SUV a few times in heavy traffic on 220, so Walker exited on Clinton Boulevard.
Walker pulled over to let the man go around, but this may have been mistaken for aggression as the driver pulled ahead of him and performed a brake check. Then he got beside Walker again while yelling obscenities and making hand gestures.
According to WAPT, the Walker only flashed a dirty look and was brake-checked again. The next time the man pulled beside him, he started firing a pistol.
Six bullets ripped through the right passenger door. Two exited into the dash, and another went right in front of his face. Another bullet hit his work bag and got lodged into a penny. If the penny wasn’t there, the bullet would have struck Walker’s leg.
The shooter remains at large. Walker submitted a police report, and investigators still have his vehicle. It’s also unclear what caused the accident. But Walker was on his way to church with worship on his mind, not anger.
