Valentine’s Day puts a lot of pressure on guys to be the perfect gentleman for their sweetie. One Oklahoma man fell a bit short this year. He didn’t forget to open her door or pull out her chair. He ditched her at a traffic stop, in a stolen car full of meth.

Tulsa Police report that at 7:30 p.m. on February 14th, an officer stopped a Dodge Charger. The driver was 19-year-old Rainy Gilbert. She pulled into a QuikTrip gas station. Then her night went sideways.

“Before the officer could even shift into park, the male passenger bailed out and ran into the store. Apparently stunned, his girlfriend (who was driving) followed him right behind, sprinting through the QT.”

I’m not sure what kind of chivalry date etiquette dictates in this situation. But maybe you could warn your girlfriend? The police officer chased the two on foot. Things got even worse for Rainy.

“The couple continued on foot into a nearby neighborhood. The male suspect hopped a fence and got away, but his girlfriend couldn’t make the climb.” Seriously? Couldn’t even give her a boost.

The aftermath of one Oklahoma Valentine’s Day traffic stop

“Rainy Gilbert, was booked into the David L. Moss Criminal Justice Center on charges including possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of methamphetamine, possession of stolen property (license plates), and eluding police.”

The Tulsa PD couldn’t help poking a bit of fun at Gilbert’s situation. “A stolen car, stolen plates, some meth, and a foot chase… not exactly the V-Day romance she had in mind.” The department also had a message for her boyfriend. “We also got stood up on Valentine’s Day… but don’t worry, we’ll be reuniting with him soon and showing him just how much we ‘miss him.’” You can read about how another woman’s first date with a BMW driver ended in a police chase and crash or see the department’s original post below:
