Some folks have a massive aversion to broccoli, but there are ways to solve that. You can dunk it in cheese or mix it into a casserole. What you don’t want to do is add meth. Good thing, Texas officers found $13 million worth of meth in a semi-truck hidden in a load of broccoli. 

Texas officers stop semi-truck with $13 million worth of meth 

United States Customs and Border Protection officers in Pharr, Texas, were conducting routine searches when they stumbled across a massive amount of narcotics. 

A tractor trailer hauling a load of broccoli was attempting to enter the United States at the Phar International bridge cargo facility. 

One officer selected the rig for inspection, but reports don’t indicate why. It included nonintrusive inspection equipment and a K-9 team. 

According to The Trucker, those hard-working pups did a great job because they sniffed out a lot of meth. In some airports and other situations, dogs will alert to the scent of food, but broccoli isn’t very tempting. 

There were 448 packages of alleged methamphetamine concealed in the roof of the trailer. They found 1,480.40 pounds of the narcotic, which is valued at about $13,223,900. Both the semi-truck and the drugs were seized by the CBP. 

Officers are leading an ongoing investigation into the incident. It’s safe to say that the driver has a bit of explaining to do. 

Hidalgo Port of Entry Port Director, Carlos Rodriguez, shared that this massive load of narcotics won’t reach American streets thanks to the tireless inspection work undertaken by CPB officers on the front lines.
