A man gave his wife’s Nissan a custom paint job, taking her Nissan Cube from a boring, basic shade to “baby pink.” She’s thrilled, but commenters think it may just be the ugliest modification they’ve ever seen.

TikTok user Cameron (@ratherberacing62) repainted his wife’s Nissan Cube as an early birthday gift. In the original video’s description, Cameron said, “safe to say she is obsessed and her dreams of a pink car have come true. Not done yet. Probably repainting her roof rack and putting that back on.”

But, he didn’t get the attention he wanted on the post. Soon after, Cameron and his wife turned comments off on the TikTok, which has over 522,000 views. That’s partially because commenters shared scathing opinions like, “He rattled canned the [expletive] out of one of the ugliest cars in history just for his wife to wreck the car on curbs and get T boned at a stop sign.”

Others thought the design needed a few tweaks but were less harsh on the couple’s overall decision-making.

Why Does Everyone Hate the Nissan Cube?

Cameron and his wife received a lot of scorn from commenters, and it wasn’t just because of the car color. The Nissan Cube is an infamous vehicle. It’s considered one of the worst-looking Nissan models “of all time,” because it uses up a significant amount of fuel and has significant mechanical issues.

In Reddit threads and online discussion posts, commenters urged those considering a Nissan Cube to go with a Kia Soul instead. The boxy design, while considered extremely ugly, doesn’t seem to be the biggest issue most people have with the model.

“Basically, if you see the Nissan badge, just run away,” one reddit user supplied on a post about ‘the cube.’ Accounts of transmission issues, electrical issues, and cheaply made parts make it one of the most hated cars on the market.

Why Does Everyone Hate the Vehicle Color?

Commenters thought that the combination of “baby pink” and the Nissan Cube didn’t match up. Or in the very least, that the “baby pink” color could have been a bit deeper and more vibrant.

In a later post, a commenter added, “Looks like Pepto-Bismol. I would [have] picked a deeper pink.” Cameron replied, saying, “It’s a baby pink. [The] camera isn’t entirely picking it up. That’s what the pink was. But because it’s so light, due to [the] primer coat first, you never really know what that kind of paint will look like when applied. She loves it, that’s all that matters.”

How Much Hate Did Cameron and His Wife Receive?

The couple received a large amount of hate on their first post. Humorously, they decided to make “reaction videos” in response where they read truly egregious takes from their original video.

They continued defending the paint choice in future videos, saying, “the car turned out great. A few little things I will fix, but all in all, truly my best paint job yet. Say what you want, I love rattle can, and will keep doing it to make you mad.”

Finally, they made one last reaction video after they had a “final reveal” for the vehicle. Cameron’s wife said that “Cameron did a great job,” and that it was exactly what she wanted.

“I think it’s pretty neat. I have modified any car I’ve had. All that matters is [that] you like it. I can’t wait to see when you guys get it finished,” supplied one viewer. Ultimately, the only thing that matters is whether Cameron’s wife likes it. And, it seems like she does.

@ratherberacing62 Replying to @Jess? Safe to say she is obsessed and her dreams of a pink car have come true.? Not done yet. Probably repainting her roof rack and putting that back on. As well as painting her wheels black. Still gotta wet sand & clear coat it. Stay tuned for more & the FULL video soon. #nissan #fyp #painting #youtube #cartok ♬ Tokyo Drift – Xavier Wulf
