New Jersey woman discovers she bought a stolen Honda CR-V at DMV
A woman from New Jersey thought she got the perfect deal on a used Honda CR-V. That is until she went to register it.
She tried to register the SUV at a local DMV when they found that the license plate was reported stolen from Patterson, New Jersey.
Police officers decided to launch an investigation into the matter as she was left without a dependable ride or the money she used to pay for it.
According to News Times, the woman claimed to have purchased the SUV from a man in a Gilbert Street parking lot.
Police officers determined that the suspect presented a fraudulent driver’s license, certificate of title, state of Connecticut vehicle inspection report, and insurance card before the sale. Then the suspect allegedly used a fake name on the document and left on foot after the transaction.

The suspect was identified as Sanata and a warrant for his arrest was gathered. After finding his location they received a booking photo. It matched the description of the suspect from the stolen CR-V sale.
Then the woman who purchased the stolen SUV positively identified the suspect during a blind photo array procedure.
Now she’s getting the last laugh as Santana has to face the consequences of his actions. He is free on a $15,000 bail. He also has a plea hearing scheduled for January 30, at the state Superior Court in Danbury.
It’s unclear if the CR-V is still being held as evidence or if it was returned to the original owner.
