Naked woman leads LAPD on chase, climbs atop her Bronco during standoff
A Los Angeles woman caused quite the commotion Tuesday morning. The naked Californian led the police on a chase, then stopped traffic with a four-hour standoff.
Just before 7 a.m., residents of the upscale Brentwood neighborhood in West Los Angeles called the LAPD over what appeared to be a domestic disturbance. Responding police officers discovered a nude woman screaming. But she had no interest in talking to them. When they arrived, she jumped in her gray Ford Bronco Sport with her dogs and fled. So the police chased her.
The woman rapidly realized that driving away from the police wasn’t going to end well. The pursuit lasted exactly two minutes, from 6:53 to 6:55 a.m. Her next move? Park in the middle of Sepulveda Boulevard at Montana Avenue and kill the engine.
The LAPD’s standoff with a naked woman
Two rows of squad cars pulled up behind the Bronco. The officers got out and ordered her out of her car. She refused. The woman shouted and gestured wildly. At one point, she appeared to climb into the back of her SUV and smash out a window with a hammer. Later, she even asked the police if they could bring her water for her dogs. But she refused to surrender.
LAPD’s mental health response team arrived but wasn’t able to help. At 10 a.m., officers in body armor surrounded the Bronco with heavily armored vehicles. At 10:45 a.m., she climbed out an open window and onto the roof of her SUV. Finally, she jumped to the ground and surrendered to officers. They immediately wrapped her in a sheet and took her into custody.
So far, police haven’t released her name or other details. You can see the latest coverage in the video embedded below:
