At this point, “Florida around and find out” should be a common figure of speech. The Sunshine State delivers at least one weekly story about a thrill-seeking resident failing spectacularly. This week was no different.

In a now-viral video, a completely naked Florida man runs down the street and directly into traffic. You won’t be shocked that a car hits him almost immediately. What’s more surprising is what happens next. He falls to the ground and lies completely still for a few moments, seemingly unconscious. Then he jumps up and begins jogging again.

Florida Man can thank his lucky flip-flops that the driver did the right thing. The motorist immediately contacted Miami police to report a pedestrian who needed help. Officers had no trouble locating the man jogging in the buff, even in Miami.

Police say drugs and a mental health crisis played a role

Police later told TMZ that the man is a military veteran who was “high on some drug.” He caught another break because Florida’s Baker Act allowed authorities to place him on an involuntary but temporary mental health hold. That process gives him time to receive care and evaluation.

Here’s hoping we don’t see him in a Florida Man headline again anytime soon.
