Buckle up because I’m about to throw a lot of information about trucks at you in rapid succession. In each class, the most reliable trucks aren’t the best-selling options. But in this economy, shouldn’t durability matter more to drivers?

The most reliable trucks have weaker sales

The most reliable trucks in the mid-size segment are options that continue to struggle against declining sales. For example, the Ford Ranger earned a score of 87 out of 100, from J.D.Power. This means that it has an above average score.

However, the Ranger sold 51,591 models in 2024. The Toyota Tacoma sold 192,813 models in 2024. It has a reliability rating of 79 out of 100, which is among the weakest scores in the class.

The Jeep Gladiator, Nissan Frontier, Chevrolet Colorado, Honda Ridgeline, and GMC Canyon each have a higher score.

According to MSN, the 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz is the most reliable tiny truck with a score of 87 out of 100, which is great.

The more popular Ford Maverick earned a reliability score of 85, so it’s only two points behind. Meanwhile, the Santa Cruz sold 32,033 trucks in 2024 and the Ford Maverick moved 188,368 units.

Among full-size trucks, the 2025 Ram 1500 is the most reliable option. It has a reliability score of 89 out of 100, which is outstanding. The 2023 Ford F-150 earned a score of 78 out of 100. The 2024 score hasn’t been released.

But that difference doesn’t mean to impact buyers. The Ram 1500 sold 373,120 models and the F-150 sold 460 915 units.
