Even though truck prices have been getting out of control for a while, it’s still surprising to see outrageous price tags. For example, the Ford Maverick crests $30,000. Also, one mid-size truck starts at over $40,000, and it’s not even considered to be a luxury pickup.

What is the most expensive mid-size truck?

Drum roll, please! The most expensive mid-size truck is the 2025 Honda Ridgeline. It has an MSRP of $40,150, so it starts above $40,000 before the $1,450 destination fee is added.

This is madness, as the Ridgeline isn’t even considered to be a luxury truck. The lavish 2025 GMC Canyon undercuts it with an MSRP of $39,995, which isn’t much. Also, the 2025 Jeep Gladiator rings in at $38,995.

Meanwhile, the 2025 Toyota Tacoma is the cheapest mid-size truck. It starts at $31,590. However, the standard Tacoma SR is a pretty spartan work truck with two-doors.

At least the entry-level Ridgeline can brag about the largest rear seat and standard 9.0-inch touchscreen, tri-zone climate control, a wireless phone charger, keyless entry/ignition, a Class III trailer hitch with seven-pin connector, and tons of safety tech.

According to Good Car Bad Car, the Honda Ridgeline has been facing declining sales over the past few years. In 2023, it sold 52,001 trucks, but it only moved 45,421 units in 2024.

It has accrued 33,835 sales through the end of August 2025. So it could rebound in the fourth quarter. However, it has an aging design, unibody construction, and can only tow up to 5,000 lbs.

Sure, it’s comfortable and includes plenty of value. But it’s not as rugged as rivals, and its high price might be hurting its success.
