‘McNut’ calls McDonald’s drive-thru, threatens to ‘shoot this s— up’ for forgetting his nuggets
Sure, McDonald’s is tasty. But a Florida teen may want to see someone about his McNuggets addiction–and his anger problem. He reported drive thru workers forgot his chicken nuggets, and his response was far from a “happy” meal.
The staff of the Lakeland, Florida, McDonald’s told the story. Eighteen-year-old Dayton Wayne Schaffer called with a reasonable complaint. He’d bought $5 meal deal and then driven away. Only later did he realize staff had forgotten his Chicken McNuggets.
He was reasonably disappointed. So the manager made a reasonable offer. If Schaffer came back, the restaurant would give him some nuggets. Schaffer just swore at the manager.
Schaffer called the McDonald’s twice more. He threatened the restaurant that he would “shoot it up” and “shoot this s— up.” Over some chicken.
According to police, “McDonald’s staff advised they were concerned about the threats, locking all doors, and calling the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.” At 1 a.m., deputies took down the phone number and connected it to Schaffer’s family. When they knocked on his mother’s door, she explained that number was Dayton Wayne Schaffer’s. She added that he was at his friend’s house. So police took a drive.
When officers arrived, Schaffer changed his tune in a McFlurry. “He claimed it was a joke and did not have any intentions of shooting anyone at McDonald’s.” Schaffer is in Polk County Jail with no bond set, and a hearing scheduled for August 5th. His charges: using a two-way communication device to commit a felony and false report of a bomb or weapon of mass destruction.
I certainly hope county jail serves chicken nuggets. You can see the Sheriff telling the story himself in the video embedded below:
