As most people with luxury cars do, a man in Vienna wanted to store his expensive Ferrari 296 GTB for the winter. The idea, of course, is to keep the vehicle safe and dry and out of the elements.

Unfortunately for him, his apartment complex denied his request for an extra parking spot. So, being a man with the means to own a Ferrari 296 GTB, he decided to think outside the box. Way outside the box.

That’s when the man, 28-year-old Amar Dezic, came up with a new plan. He would just hire a crane to lift his Ferrari onto the balcony of his apartment and keep it there over the winter. That’s what some people in Dubai do, right? (Vienna isn’t Dubai, though. As he quickly found out.)

“The costs were in the four-digit range,” Amar Dezic told BILD. “I wanted to build another illuminated glass box for it. As a showcase for a work of art.” Of course, this being 2025, he filmed his effort and shared it on TikTok.

Authorities didn’t appreciate his Ferrari-storing ingenuity

With the problem seemingly solved, Dezic, the owner of an auto parts and tuning business, could now rest easy. His Ferrari 296 GTB was now safe and sound and right there within arm’s reach on his balcony.

That satisfaction he felt lasted about a week. Authorities quickly learned what he had done. They didn’t like it. Citing fire safety and other concerns, Dezic was ordered to remove the Ferrari from his balcony.

So he hired the crane to return to the apartment complex and remove the car. He will now be storing the supercarin his company’s warehouse.

Of course, he could have done that in the first place and avoided all of this controversy and cost. But what fun would that have been?
