Please don’t commit arson or steal trucks. But let’s take a look at this wild North Carolina man who set his home ablaze and stole a fire truck. I feel like there are easier ways to steal a vehicle than destroying your house.

North Carolina man burns home and steals a fire truck

Firefighters and other emergency responders immediately responded to reports of a house fire along Nelson Drive in Jacksonville, North Carolina.

While crews were battling the flames, they didn’t seem to notice when the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Anthony Micheal Biz, stole a fire truck. He initially got away with a 2019 Ford F-250 or the battalion command truck.

Police officers spotted the vehicle a few hours later. It was parked at another home located roughly 30 minutes away in neighboring Pender County.

Biz was arrested and charged with fraudulently burning a dwelling, larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and misdemeanor unauthorized burning.

He was taken to the Onslow County Jail, and his bond is set at $90,000. According to WBTV, Biz shared that the system failed his son. But it’s unclear what he was referring to and declined to explain further.

Luckily, no one was injured in the house fire. Biz admitted that he owns the home and set it on fire on purpose to burn it down. Police officers are still investigating how he got access to the Ford F-250.

Jacksonville Fire Chief Edward Tallman shared that during his 26 years with the department, nothing has ever been taken. No vehicle has ever been stolen from the scene like that.
