Louisiana off-road trail ride ends in shooting, police chase, and fiery truck crash
It was supposed to be a country-style good time. But by the end of the night, two teenagers were shot, a truck was on fire, and one driver was crawling from a ravine with police deputies on his heels. Welcome to Clarence, Louisiana, where a trail ride ended in bullets and burning rubber.
Chaos unfolds at Louisiana trail ride
The evening of March 22, 2025, started with the promise of a lively Louisiana trail ride. But at 7:47 p.m., “Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of gunfire at the location of the trail ride event, where a large crowd had gathered.” That’s according to the Sheriff’s Office statement.
In the chaos, “four victims were located at the scene with gunshot wounds, including two teenagers and two young adults.” All were Shreveport residents. “The victims were immediately treated by emergency medical personnel and transported to regional medical facilities for further care.”
“The victims are as follows: A 22-year-old female, with non-life-threatening injuries. A 16-year-old male, with non-life-threatening injuries. A 16-year-old male, transported to a regional trauma center. A 20-year-old male, transported to a regional trauma center.”
“One of the victims” from the Louisiana trail ride was airlifted by Air EVAC LifeTeam. And according to NPSO, “it is believed that the suspect(s) fled the scene prior to law enforcement’s arrival.”
Then came the second act.
High-speed chase ends in fiery crash
Just over an hour later, the Louisiana Parish’s Sheriff’s Office says there was a second incident near the trail ride. “Deputies responded to reports about a fight in the parking lot of the Clarence Town Hall.” A black 2018 Chevrolet pickup fled the scene, leading police on a chase down US 71 and onto Highway 6.
“The truck kept going, headed westbound on Highway 6, and turned its headlights off in heavy traffic as people were leaving the trail ride,” said the Sheriff’s Office.
Then: “The chase ended when the driver lost control of the truck, causing it to leave the road and crash into a ravine on the left side of Highway 6 near Highway 486 Campti Cutoff. At that point, the truck burst into flames.”
Three men jumped from the flaming wreck. “Deputies report seeing three people get out and run away from the truck.” Two were caught quickly. “The third person (driver) was found suffering from non-life-threatening injuries about a mile from the crash scene.”
“All three men in the truck are from Shreveport,” said NPSO. The driver was hospitalized. “The investigation is ongoing, and charges are pending.”
The suspects from the truck wreck are from Shreveport. The Louisiana trail ride shooting victims? Also Shreveport residents. At first, police thought the incidents were connected. Now, maybe not. But either way, someone fired into a crowd of 4,000 and walked free. Clarence won’t be forgetting this trail ride anytime soon. See more coverage in the video embedded below:
