We’ve all been traumatized by the log truck crash in Final Destination. But the nightmare of logs spilling through the air and crushing drivers was dangerously close to becoming a reality in North Carolina. As logs spilled loose, the crash caused a Kia engine to go flying.

Log truck crash in North Carolina ejects Kia engine

It’s not every day that drivers get to see an engine go flying through the air. But poor driver mistakes led to a wild accident between a log truck and a Kia.

Police officers share that a Kia engine was ejected during a collision with a log truck while heading east on U.S. 70. The Kia decided to turn left on Bardan Street and collided with the truck.

As the semi-truck flipped on its side, the Kia engine went flying! The logs and engine became projectile hazards that snarled traffic. The average SUV engine weighs between 300 and 600 lbs. It could’ve hit someone with deadly force.

According to CBS 17, police officers shared that the driver of the Kia only suffered minor injuries. The trucker wasn’t injured. Both were transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Also, the Kia driver was cited with unsafe movement for causing the accident.

Spilled logs, broken glass, and mangled vehicles blocked traffic for hours. Firefighters showed up to help with the cleanup process. The highway reopened about four hours after the collision.

This should serve as a reminder to be aware of your surroundings! Make sure lanes of traffic are clear before moving over. Also, don’t cut off smei-trucks. They take longer than you think to slow down or stop.
