Give it up for the Ford F-150 Hybrid. Even though the PowerBoost model is the least reliable F-150 option, it got a massive sales increase. It outsold every other hybrid or electric truck available.

The least reliable Ford F-150 model outsells every electric rival

The least reliable Ford F-150 model is the Ford F-150 Hybrid or the PowerBoost model. But people might be ignoring its dependability score because it has an excellent sales increase in 2024.

According to Torque News, the F-150 Hybrid ended 2024 with 73,845 sales. This makes it the most popular battery-powered truck in America. In 2023, it moved 50,103 trucks, so it got a 47% sales increase.

Then the Ford Maverick Hybrid came in second place at 68,752. The F-150 Lightning was outpaced by a few rivals but sold 33,510 models.

The Rivian R1T sold about 30,000 models in America. It’s unclear how many Tesla Cybertruck models actually got delivered. You can estimate between 15,000 to 50,000 models. Still, the F-150 Hybrid crushed it.

The amount of Toyota Tundra Hybrid and Toyota Tacoma Hybrid models sold adds up to about 46,444 units combined.

But the F-150 Hybrid still ranks as one of the least reliable trucks to buy according to Consumer Reports. It ranks vehicles based on owner feedback.

Owners report battery problems with the PowerBoost Hybrid that are related to electrical faults. Sometimes the truck won’t start or suddenly loses power. Sometimes it gets stuck in limp mode.

It’s more prone to failing and losing its charge during cold weather. Also, some trucks will get stuck in limp mode and won’t shift out of park if the hybrid battery fails. Some models needed battery replacements before reaching 3,000 miles on the odometer.
