The crumpled Toyota landed on a large boulder at the side of the road. Emergency crews – Los Angeles firefighters – arrived and immediately worked to rescue two people trapped inside the mangled SUV. The other vehicle, a Lamborghini Urus, sat unoccupied.

The Lamborghini’s front end was badly damaged in the strange collision. The bumper’s gone. At least the right rear side airbag blew. The normally quiet street is littered with piles of car parts.

The crash happened overnight around 1:30 am in Hancock Park, one of LA’s most exclusive neighborhoods. The area touts well-preserved pre-war homes and, as the name indicates, a large chunk of greenery considering its central location.

The Lamborghini driver fled the scene, puzzling responders and triggering a hit-and-run investigation.

KTLA reported that three people were inside the Toyota SUV, which looks like a RAV4. One person climbed out on their own while the other two required extrication. No word on who or what caused the collision.

According to a local law group, a hit-and-run conviction in LA County might mean up to six months in jail, a hefty fine, or years of probation. A judge might assign a combination, plus determine license status, including points or suspension.

The Urus and the Toyota certainly appear totaled after the car accident. Injuries to the occupants weren’t disclosed.

Was the driver a thief? Operating under the influence? Or a local youth borrowing their parents’ $275,000 Lamborghini without permission? LA police search for answers today.
