Police officers in Mesa County, Colorado, recently took part in one of the strangest chases you will ever see. A 7-year-old kid who had been reported missing led the officers on a 10-mile-long chase in a golf cart before they finally stopped him.

It all began with a 911 call at around 8 a.m. on Sunday. Shortly after sending out an alert, a resident contacted the sheriff’s office. They reported seeing the child sitting on a golf cart outside a home.

“When deputies got to that property, they found the golf cart and child were no longer there,” the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office said, KKTV News reported.

Police then sent out another alert, asking people to look out for the missing child driving a golf cart.

“Dispatch quickly began receiving calls regarding the child’s changing direction of travel,” the sheriff’s office said.

A drone and three different police departments were involved in the bizarre chase

After the police employed a drone to search for the child in the cart, they closed in on him. At this point, the Grand Junction Police Department joined the Palisade Police Department and the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office in the chase.

A witness who was leaving a grocery store parking lot said he saw police chasing the golf cart with lights and sirens. The fact that the driver looked like he was about 7-years-old caused him to do a double-take.

The kid had now spent over an hour and 15 minutes eluding police. He had also driven more than 10 miles in the golf cart. A police officer finally tracked him down and stopped him as he ran alongside the cart and jumped onto it.

In the end, both the child and the golf cart were returned safely to their homes.
