If you own a Jeep Wrangler or Gladiator, then you might want to consider this warning. One owner shared her experiences facing a dangerous safety problem. It can cause the power steering to fail and the engine to lose power.

Woman explains dangerous Jeep Wrangler problem

One Jeep Wrangler owner has been experiencing a troubling issue related to CAN Buss failure and UCodes. This problem occurred while she was driving, and she gets into all the details.

First of all, TikTok user @diytattedbarbie warns people to inform friends and loved ones who own 2018-2024 Wrangler and Gladiator models about this issue.

At first, her dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree with errors related to the loss of power steering, ABD system, engine control, electronic stability control, dash cluster, and the inability to shift.

She pulled over and couldn’t turn her Wrangler off for a few minutes. Later, she had to disconnect the battery to reset her SUV before it would do anything.

The problem is related to the CAN Buss connector panel or STAR connector. It’s behind the glove box on the left. It’s green, and it controls the electronics and computers. If it goes bad, you will get Ucodes or communication codes.

Other drivers reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that they have lost control of their SUVs and trucks in traffic. Losing power steering is dangerous as it can lead to overcorrecting and flipping.

Jeep hasn’t issued a recall for this problem, but you can replace the connector panel yourself. It costs $70 on Amazon.

I conducted some research and found multiple complaints with the NHTSA and on various forums. There are no investigations into the problem or recalls. One recall feels similar, but it’s for the digital gauge cluster. But this issue needs to be addressed.
