The Jeep Wrangler 4xe Already Has Another Fire Related Recall
Oh no, it’s happening AGAIN! Owners of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe are being urged to park outside. There’s a massive recall involving 375,000 hybrid Jeep SUVs due to a fire risk. This may feel like déjà vu because it isn’t the first time drivers have dealt with this issue.
The Jeep Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe have a fire risk
This time around, Stellantis is issuing a recall for roughly 375,000 Jeep Wrangler 4xe and Jeep Wrangler Grand Cherokee 4xe models. These plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) SUVs are facing a battery issue that may cause fires.
The recall includes 2020 – 2025 Wrangler 4xe models and 2026 – 2026 Grand Cherokee 4xe models. But there’s no solution yet. It could be related to an issue with the separators between battery cells.
Until Stellantis provides a remedy for this issue, drivers are being instructed to park outside, away from structures. Also, avoid charging the vehicle due to fire risks.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the fire risk is higher in charged batteries than in depleted ones. It has received 19 complaints related to the problem.
Plus, one of the complaints was from owners who received the recall fix for a similar recall in 2024. Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe SUVs had a fire risk due to battery failure.
The remedy involved updating the high-voltage pack battery software and replacing the battery pack assembly as necessary, free of charge. Owners of models impacted by the previous recall could be at risk under the current one.
Owners at risk will be notified via mail starting on December 2, 2025. You can call Chrysler Customer Service at 800-835-1403 for more information.
